He began his career in Hastings performing fully-staged operas with experienced professional singers and directors Michael Maurel, Fred Westcott, Geoffrey Shovelton, John Winfield, Brenda Stanley and Alistair Dawes amongst many others. His professional debut in a major role was as Mozart\u2019s Figaro for London Opera Players, to which he quickly added Malatesta (Don Pasquale) at Holland Park, Dandini (La Cenerentola), Onegin and a number of other, largely lyric, baritone roles.<br \/>\n<div class='content-column two_third'>Peter has frequently taken on the role of Music Host for Saga Holidays since 2011, and in this role has written and presented hundreds of illustrated talks &amp; recitals about many major composers whilst hosting eight Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra seasons and two seasons of the Festival Internacional de M\u00fasica de Canarias (Canary Islands International Music Festival), most of the G&amp;S \u2018canon\u2019 whilst hosting International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival holidays in Buxton and many of the large-scale operas such as A\u00efda, Turandot and Carmen whilst covering the larger part of seven seasons of the Arena di Verona Opera Festival.<\/div><br \/>\n<div class='content-column one_third last_column'><div style=\"padding-left:20px;\"><h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #990000;\">Demo:<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><iframe class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4KbTY5PzV9U?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/><\/div><\/div><div class='clear_column'><\/div><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2329 size-thumbnail alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hartleyvoices.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/bass-baritone-hire-Peter-150x150.png\" alt=\"hire bass-baritone Peter for your event\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\">In 2016 he was voted by clients the top performing special interests host across all disciplines. Peter has also written and delivered many concert programmes for Saga and others which has encouraged him to develop an enormous range of songs and arias and, especially, an ability to entertain in a \u2018one man, one hour\u2019 format. He was very much made in Hastings, East Sussex, where his childhood was spent very actively in local music-making. He has nourished and maintained links with his home town returning to perform many operatic roles with Opera South-East and to give recitals at Holy Trinity Church, St Clement\u2019s and other churches around the town. Family tragedy prompted him not to continue his music studies but, instead, to complete a BA(Hons) in Theology\/ Philosophy at King\u2019s College, London.<\/p>\n<p>Communication is Peter\u2019s strength and his ease at communicating with an audience has always been remarked upon as a defining feature throughout his career. The increasing power and darkness of his voice in recent years \u2013 he has taken on performances of the eponymous heroes of Macbeth and Nabucco.
